Walking Tour of Vesuvius

The most famous volcano in the world, especially known for the terrible explosive eruption which occurred in the year 79 A.D. and which caused the destruction of ancient Pompei together with other places in the area.

It hasn’t erupted since march 1944, so don’t wait too long if you want to climb it.

You never know when it’s going to wake up again!

This tour requires transportation and is perfect if combined with another site like Pompei or Herculaneum.

We’ll be driven as far as 1000 metres, that’s where the pathway starts which takes us up to the top of the mountain in order to be able to look at the inside of the actual crater and, on a clear day, to enjoy an amazing view of the whole bay of Naples.

It’s a rather heavy walk which takes approximately 30 minutes depending on your speed.

SPECIAL TIPS: SOME ADVICE

- Comfortable shoes, a hat and sunscreen (highly recommended in summer) and a bottle of water

First stop will be Pompei, for a two hour tour, then you’ll be taken to Sorrento where you’ll have one hour’s free time, then on to Positano where you’ll have another hour and finally departure to Naples port or train station
